RELAXATION MASSAGE

60min – $105      90min – $155

There are many forms of Relaxation Massage practiced world wide, the most commonly known being Swedish massage. There is some discussion as to where this treatment really originated from, whether organised and described by a Dutch practitioner, or by a Swedish therapist who introduced it into the US.

Swedish massage is generally a full body massage which includes a specific group of massage movements: effleurage, or sliding movements; petrissage, or kneading movements; friction, or rubbing; vibration and percussion, all with the use of aromatic oils. It can also include passive and active joint movements, stretching tight muscles and bending joints with the assistance of a qualified therapist.

The primary physical and emotional benefits of this massage include:

  • Relieving superficial muscle tension
  • Relieving joint tension, muscle cramps and spasms
  • Improving circulation of blood and lymph
  • Improving muscle strength and coordination
  • Release emotional and mental stress, anxiety and depression
  • Insomnia
  • Increase your ability to concentrate, and improve your sense of well-being
  • Help relieve fluid retention

Swedish relaxation massage can be performed as a full body massage or to specific areas of the body. Usually only the area being treated is uncovered, and the recipient is never fully uncovered throughout the treatment. The massage usually involves a light, relaxing pressure, however most recipients prefer a firmer touch to sooth aching muscles.

This treatment is highly recommended for anyone suffering from stress and fatigue, and also perfect for someone wanting to experience massage for the first time.
